3 Online Storage Companies With Free Space

Increased demand for online storage has led to dozens of companies entering the market. This has led to increased competition, which has forced prices down and increased the lengths to which online storage companies are willing to go to earn your business.
One way in which storage companies work to earn your business is to offer free trial accounts. Some of these free trial accounts are offered for a limited time only while others offer a little free space forever. If your storage needs are relatively small, it is entirely possible to take advantage of online storage without paying.
The following companies all offer free accounts that you can use for as long as you want. Space is limited on these free accounts, but you never have to provide your payment information. All you have to do is sign up and download the software.
1. SpiderOak - 2 GB Free Account
SpiderOak is an online syncing and storage tool with an emphasis on security. A free account gives you 2 GB of space that you can use for as long as you want. You can use this account to store files online and to sync files between multiple devices.
The thing I like most about SpiderOak is that it takes security seriously. They adhere to zero-knowledge privacy and give you full control over your content. Unlike Dropbox, SpiderOak does not know what you store online thanks to its encryption standards. This is one of my favorite storage tools on the market.
2. Dropbox - 2 GB Free Account
Dropbox is similar to SpiderOak in how it works. Like SpiderOak, Dropbox provides online storage, file syncing and file sharing. You can sign up for a basic account and get 2 GB of storage space forever. You can also earn additional free space by referring your friends to Dropbox.
The one issue I have with Dropbox is that it has had several major security mishaps over the years. Dropbox has always responded quickly to those issues, but I'm not entirely sold yet because Dropbox does not encrypt your files to the same extent that SpiderOak does. Even so, Dropbox is worth a mention because millions of people use it and swear by it.
3. OpenDrive - 5 GB Free Account
OpenDrive is yet another file storage and syncing tool. It has pretty much the same features as the others mentioned on this page. The difference here is that you get a full 5 GB instead of the 2 Gb offered by Dropbox and SpiderOak.
The trade-off for more free space with OpenDrive is that you are limited to 1 GB per day of bandwidth and 200 KB/s transfer speeds. This probably won't be a big deal considering the free account only has a capacity of 5 GB, but it's worth keeping in mind.
